Taking It Personally
Your expectations are why you take it personally. That's it! Think about it. The last time you took “it” personally you wanted a different outcome or thought the reaction you’d get was going to be the opposite of what you got. Expectations. All. Day. Long. I have a friend who says kill your expectations and live a long and HAPPY life. Yes! There are expectations we hold high on the moral scale. You expect your spouse to not have sex with another person. You expect your children not to lie. You expect Christians to welcome the immigrants given their Savior. But! Ultimately some people wander, kids will lie and religions will get lost in fundamental idealogical bullshit. Again, another reason to lose your expectations so you don’t lose your mind or take offense when you get a different outcome. You learn to let go of expectations. You learn to lessen the control of others. You learn you must create systems deep in you that create happiness. You learn to live undefended with nothing to prove, nothing to lose. How? Well that's the trick of the tale. Moving away from the attachments of people, places and things, and placing your bets on the love of the Divine.
